English in My Life

 

▶ Key Expressions

 

have no interest in ~에 관심이 없다
Throughout college, I had no interest in English, and so I was not any good at it.

not any good at ~을 못하는

without a gameplan 계획 없이
I started studying English without a gameplan watching American TV show.

come across 우연히 접하다
I came across an EBS program and studied for about a year. 

basic speaking skills 기본 회화 능력
I learned basic speaking skills this way.

become a parent 부모가 되다
Since then, I have become a parent.

in day-to-day life 일상생활에
I thought it would be helpful for the kids to speak it in day-to-day life.

satisfy someone's yearning 갈망을 충족시키다
I also wanted to satisfy my own yearning to learn.

feel grateful 고맙게 생각하다
I feel grateful that English became a growth oppotunity for me.

growth opportunity 성장 기회

play a big role 큰 역할을 하다

there is no end to ~의 끝이 없다
There is no end to learning English. 

raise someone's self-esteem 자존감을 높여주다
Even so, studying English every day has helped to raise my self-esteem.
