Learning the Piano 피아노를 배운 경험

take the stage 무대에 서다
My mother was always envious of pianist who took the stage to play the piano.

hit grade school 초등학교에 입학하다

take piano lessons 피아노 레슨을 받다
So before I even hit grade school, she took me to the neighborhood piano academy to take piano lessons.
 
bore someone stiff ~를 매우 지루하게 하다
But as a kid, practicing the piano always bored me stiff. 

feel like a chore 힘들다
It always felt like a chore.

lack grit 끈기가 부족하다
 Maybe it was because I lacked grit, but practicing each day was like torture.​

get a dressing down 혼나다
I often got a dressing down from my teacher at the academy.

in tears 울면서
I often returned home in tears.

call it quits 포기하다
I called it quits. 

hit a wall 한계에 부딪히다
 I would have hit a wall many times if my mother hadn't made me learn the piano.

pass away 별세하다
My mother had passed away, and I am filled with regret that I didn't understand her better when I was young. 

be filled with regret 매우 후회되다
